In Loving Memory Of

Mzee Joseph Kiprotich Arap Rono was born on January 1, 1935, in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. He was a respected elder, farmer, and community leader who witnessed Kenya's journey from colonial rule to independence.

Joseph was a large-scale wheat and maize farmer who was among the first Africans to own commercial farmland in the Rift Valley. He served as a councilor in the Eldoret Municipal Council and was instrumental in establishing several schools in his community.

He was married to three wives and blessed with eighteen children, fifty-two grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Mzee Rono was known for his wisdom, storytelling, and his famous quote: "A man's wealth is not in his pocket, but in his community."

He loved Kalenjin traditional songs and was often called upon to bless community events. Mzee will be remembered as a patriarch who united people across generations.
